Last week I was lucky enough to score tickets to the new Circus Oz show, Steam Powered. The extravaganza combines the ultimate aesthetic of steam punk with the human charm for which Circus Oz is known.
The adventure begins in Darling Harbour, where the Big Top looks so at home amongst the fabulous new children’s play area, with waterwheels, giant slide and ping pong. Then inside the lavivsh tent all the front of house staff are dressed for a trip in a 19th century flying machine and anticipation begins to build.
The show itself has a very well integrated aesthetic, with a live band adding colour and flair to the performance. The predominantly features acrobatics and clowning, with their signature ‘human animals only’ style of circus and un-assuming Australian style humour gags.
All in all, a fantastic night out! Get down to Darling Harbour and catch Steam Powered!
