Futureleaks was is an ongoing project exploring dystopic futures. I participated in installations in June and December 2019 by contributing an apocolptic casino where visitors engage in ethics problems.
Synopsis
This was a large scale immersive theatre experience with many different areas to explore and characters to meet. The June edition in particular ran as an escape room, with various challenges to meet before exit was possible.
The theme was a futuristic world post climate change. People live in poverty within shanty towns, engaging in their own commerce and activities such as trading the scare commodity, clean water.
My installation within this was an apocolyptic casino, where visitors could play an invented card game to solve trolley problems based on democratic principles. Majority players were the winners though the ethical thought experiments were always difficult and therefore divisive, prompting amusement, discomfort and discussion between players.
