Some curious and colourful street art in Novi Sad, Serbia. Who is it, I wonder? And what does it say? And why does there appear to be a little pack of cigarettes in the bottom right corner? The street art was unusually at odds with the general historic feel of the city centre. The lovely town has so many gorgeous …
Dog shrine in Brooklyn, New York
We were searching Brooklyn’s backstreets for espresso coffee and were directed down towards the desolate waterline. As we walked through the puddles we happened upon an odd shrine. To a long departed, much loved pet? And this strange tribute to a banana, accompanying it off to the side. Later defiled by someone crass, no doubt.
Dead bird graffiti in Redfern, Sydney
If you fight your way through the swarms of students pushing their way towards Redfern station, you can see this lovely piece on Lawson Street. It looks great in situ against the colour of the worn brickwork with a wacky car as an accessory in the foreground.
Skeleton Dog Graffiti, Melbourne
While taking a lunch break from schmoozing a little at the Arts Centre in Melbourne, I happened upon this fantastic piece of street art in one of the CBD’s hip and charming laneways. Loving the skeletal/greyhound/jackal/scientific drawing style imagery.
Roller Derby Street Art, Melbourne
A Melbourne laneway brightened up by epic street artist and illustrator Debs. She has a big reputation for a reason, and brings some much needed female strength to the street art scene. This piece was inspired by my dear friend Reese Geronimo and makes me pine for my roller derby days long gone.
Street Art in Ljubljana, Slovenia
In Ljubljana they have quite cute street signs at the zebra crossings of a stick man holding a child’s hand. But, ‘Oh No!’ This little guy’s caught on fire!! You can also find some cool Slovenian political graffiti here.
Amsterdam Graffiti
BEFORE So I was in Amsterdam this one time and I met a boy in the hostel where I was staying, as you do. He’d brought his skateboard along and I was going to borrow some blades. We made plans to go skating together the next day. That night he went off to do some graffiti, knowledgeably claiming that in …

Space Invaders in Barcelona, Spain
If you are walking along the street and you take the time to look up, down or around, you might just notice a little tiled space invader mosaic. This isn’t a retro initiative spearheaded by some hip council member. It’s a funny little street art phenomena that I have started to notice more and more. Rumour has it that the …
Street Art and Riots in Athens, Greece
I happened to be traveling to Athens in July this year and the atmosphere was electric. I was able to capture some of the spirit of the place; and the art that was a part of the revolt against the government and their approach to the current economic situation.
